Job Post: Surface Diesel Mechanic

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10) or equivalent

  • Diesel Mechanic Trade certificate

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working on earth-moving equipment

  • Driver’s License (valid code C1 or EC license)

Experience:

  • Experience in troubleshooting on hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems

  • Experience on Volvo, CAT and Bell equipment

Skills and abilities:

  • Good communication and writing skills

  • Self-motivated and safety & production orientated

  • Good supervisory skills

  • Ability to work under pressure without supervision

  • Must work overtime and standby

  • Willing to work shifts

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all equipment being used is inspected, maintained and safe for use

  • All safety devices must be operational

  • Ensure maximum availability of equipment

  • Train and develop employees under his or her supervision

  • Maintain good housekeeping

  • Comply with standards, procedures, rules and regulations

  • Ensure all logbooks are up to date, signed and submitted
