Overview

Kangra is a reliable producer of premium energy coal. Situated in Mkhondo in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province, the mine produces about 1.4 million tonnes of thermal coal annually. Founded by Graham Beck in 1957, Kangra has maintained its reputation for consistent quality and secure supply, making it a preferred supplier for power producers abroad. Its stake in the Richards Bay Coal Terminal and proximity to the port further enhances the mine’s export capacity. Kangra acquired the mining rights for Savmore/Maquasa in 1995, mining Maquasa until its reserves were depleted. Subsequently, Kangra acquired the Kusipongo mining right, effectively extending its mining operations by over 20 years.
