Job Post: Surface Diesel Mechanic

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 55 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine. This Colliery has the following vacancy:

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10) or Equivalent.

  • Diesel Mechanic Trade certificate.

  • Minimum of 5 working years on earth moving equipment.

  • Driver’s License. Valid code C1 or EC license

Experience:

  • Experience in troubleshoot on hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Experience on Volvo, CAT and Bell equipment

Skills and abilities: 

  • Good communication and writing skills

  • Self-motivated and safety & production orientated

  • Good supervisory skills

  • Ability to work under pressure without supervision

  • Must work overtime and standby

  • Willing to work shifts

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all equipment’s being used are inspected, maintained and safe for use.

  • All safety devices must be operational

  • Ensure maximum availability of equipment.

  • Train and develop employees under his or her supervision.

  • Maintain good housekeeping.

  • Comply with standards, procedures, rules and regulations

  • Ensure all logbooks are up to date, signed and submitted.
