Job Post: Instrumentation Technician
Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 65 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine. This Colliery has the following vacancy:
The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 12
National certificate level (N4) with Industrial Instrumentation as main subject with two years’ experience
Instrumentation trade test certificate of competency (Section 13/ Section 26 not Section 28)
Electrical trade with vast PLC programming knowledge with at least minimum 3 to 4 years.
S4/T4 National Diploma in Light Current with two years’ experience.
Basic computer skills
Code EB/B driver license
English proficiency
Medical certificate of fitness
Experience:
Minimum four years’ experience as an Instrumentation Technician or higher level.
Advantageous:
Flame proofing and Gas Testing Certificate
HIRA/ JSA training certificate
Fiber splicing
Skills and abilities:
Good verbal communication ability
Must be a fast learner
Must be able to work under high pressure
Must be able to work at heights
Must be able to work underground/fear of the dark, confined space
Knowledge of Plc and Scada development and programming. Allen Bradley CLX5000 and Comact Logix 1100 and 1400 and SCL500 would be an advantage, and Factory TalkView studio 5000.
Interpersonal skills to motivate and involve people on safety and relevant issues.
Maintain a good attendance record.
Knowledge of Allen Bradley / WEG / Vacon / Danvos Variable speed drives.
Knowledge of various filed instrumentation and installation Practices thereof (Pressure, level, flow and temperature)
Network building and fault-finding skills.
Basic understanding of process flow of coal washing plants and underground operations
Problem assessment, prompt and accurate feedback for breakdown reporting.
Planning and organizing planned maintenance and stoppage resources (spares & tools).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend safety meeting with Instrumentation foreman / relevant area seniors and relevant employees.
Perform standby duties as and when requested.
Complete specific task related maintenance job cards.
Assist with Turn key projects.
Ensure that work conducted is perform to the specific standard and specification.
Maintain and install measuring and control instruments as required.
Assist in installation, commissioning and maintenance of the process and communication systems required.
Plan and compile plant maintenance schedule in conjunction with senior foreman.
Perform regular weighbridge maintenance and inspections.
Setup, configure, program and commission plc, Scada, network switches, radios and camera from time to time.
Assist with fiber splicing throughout the mine topology.
Comply with the mine quality, health and safety standards at all time.
Perform faulty finding and implement preventative solutions on various field instruments both surface and underground.
Perform radio link tower inspections.
Will be requested to work outside of your work boundaries from time to time
