Job Post: Rail Siding & Transport Supervisor

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 65 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine. This Colliery has the following vacancy:

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12

  • Valid driver’s license (Code B)

Experience:

  • Previous siding operational experience

  • Train loading

  • Stockpile management

  • Transport or fleet management

  • Previous experience with Transnet & RBCT

  • Understanding Transnet operations and operational language

  • Coal quality control

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience

Skills and abilities:

  • Good communication and writing skills in English

  • Be able to communicate fluently with Transnet & RBCT

  • Safety oriented

  • Computer literate (MS Office, Excel)

  • Planning and organising skills

  • Supervisory skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the road transport within the siding

  • Manage all coal stockpiles within the siding area

  • Manage the loading of trains

  • Ensure enough stock is available for loading

  • Ensure the correct products are loaded with the correct customer requirements

  • Reconciliation of tonnages dispatched via rail or road

  • Ensure all documentation are available and processed

  • Ensure proper traffic management is adhered to in areas of responsibility

  • Ensure proper housekeeping. According to mine standards and Transnet

  • Ensure road maintenance are being done

  • Ensure safety compliance in the area of responsibility to Transnet & RSR

  • Communicate with all people involved in the execution of this function

  • Take any lawful and reasonable instructions from the Logistics Manager and Senior Logistics Foreman

  • Report any illegal incidents to the chain of command
