Job Post: Underground Maintenance Foreman

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 65 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine. This Colliery has the following vacancy:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12

  • Section 13 or 26 relevant certified trade test

  • Legal appointment (MHSA/DMR 2.9.2)

Experience:

  • 8-11 years relevant experience

  • 5 years in supervisory position

Skills and abilities:

  • Willing to work overtime and stand-by duties

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Communication and Supervisory skills

  • Control and Supervision of subordinates

  • Ability to identify and control risks

  • Ability to apply basic maintenance practices

  • Optimization and effective implementation of maintenance practices and strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct production, and maintain equipment in his or her area of responsibility to ensure that targets can be met safely.

  • Control budget of equipment

  • Do legal inspection as required

  • Train and develop employees under his or her supervision

  • Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules.

  • Ensure optimization, effective management of maintenance strategy.

  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee attitudes.

  • Improve manpower utilization

  • Maintain or improve housekeeping and safety records

  • Ensure all required documents and files are submitted and updated as required

  • Do time keeping and keep overtime in control of employees under his or her supervision

  • Manage Overtime and standby duties.

  • Assist in breakdowns during and after hours.

  • Maintain, mechanical infrastructure.
