Job Post: Underground Fitter / Beltsman

Situated in the Piet Retief/Panbult area, ± 65 km from Piet Retief, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. is a modern, mechanized mine. This Colliery has the following vacancy:

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • N3 or equivalent N6 and or/National Diploma will be advantageous

  • Fitter Trade Certificate

  • Flame proof and Gas Testing

Experience:

  • At least 3 years on the following machines: 12HM31 JNA11, and MC 430

  • Feeder Breaker, Shuttle Car, Fletcher Roof Bolter, knowledge of Sandvik CM and Coal seam Shuttle car will be advantageous.

Skills and abilities:

  • Good communication and writing skills

  • Self-motivated and safety & production orientated

  • Ability to work under pressure without supervision

  • Must work overtime and standby

  • Conveyor Systems Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical, and hydraulic components tied to conveyor belt systems.

  • Maintenance & Repair: Proficiency in belt installation, vulcanized and mechanical belt splicing, rubber repair, and pulley lagging.

  • Troubleshooting: Strong fault-finding and root-cause analysis skills to diagnose and resolve equipment failures quickly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & breakdowns, repairs on the above machines and equipment. Adhering to minimum standards, rules & procedures training of subordinates.

  • Safety & Compliance: Conduct daily safety inspections, lead toolbox talks, enforce strict company safety policies, and identify site hazards.

  • Planning & Coordination: Coordinate daily workflow, plan scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and act as the main communication link between upper management, clients, and field
