EXTERNAL ADVERT: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER C4

The ideal applicant will meet the following requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Standard 10)

  • Diploma in general nursing

  • Diploma in Industrial occupational health

  • Dispensing license will be advantageous

  • Audiometry

  • Spirometry

  • Registered with SANC and SASOHN as an Occupational practitioner

  • Computer literacy

  • Valid driver’s license code B/EB                                                 

      Experience:

  •  At least 3 years relevant experience in Occupational health nursing, audiometry and spirometry

  • At least 2 years of experience in the coal mining industry

        Skills and abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Managerial skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Analytical thinking

  • Decision making skills

  • Problem solving skills

        Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pre-employment medical examinations 

  • Periodic medical examinations and medical surveillance

  • Exit medical examinations

  • Biological testing, organ monitoring

  • Reporting and administration of injury on duty

  • First aid and onsite emergency procedure

  • Ergonomics monitoring

  • Hygiene and safety 

  • Primary healthcare service

  • Disability management / Fitness to work rehabilitation

  • Promote healthcare services HIV / AIDS

  • Monthly management reporting

  • Attend to day-to-day medical problems of employees

  • Dispensing medicine to employees

  • Perform administrative duties associated with day-to-day medical activities in the clinic

  • Keeping record of all medical related information on all employees

  • Arranging appointments with doctors and specialists on behalf of employees

  • Supervise change house cleaners as well as Paramedics

  • Attend medical incapacity counselling meetings

  • Coordinate DMR inspections/formulate and submit report as per DMR requirement
